Zhu Zhu Pets
$60.00
Released August, 2009
The Pros:Hamsters make noise and run around. Hamster cute without the hamster upkeep. Hot right now.
The Cons:Silly - a fully enclosed hamster system for a fake pet. Doesn't teach children the real responsibility required to take care of an animal. Price gouging due to their popularity.
The Zhu Zhu Pets consists of a batch of battery-powered, artificially intelligent hamsters that don’t poop, die, or stink, but instead deliver a plethora of fun motion and sound. They can operate in one of two modes: Nurturing or Adventure.

In Nurturing Mode, the Zhu Zhu Pet hamster coos and purrs as it is picked up and snuggled tight by the user. In Adventure Mode, the little critter darts all over your house or apartment, doling out intelligent audio and mechanical responses to all the different stimuli. Included also are over 40 different sound effects, a sleep mode, and the ability to recognize their environment and act appropriately. Zhu Zhu Pets is available in five different models and includes a myriad of optional accessories that can be purchased for creating a customized hamster environment.
