An upgrade from the GX5FHDXV, the GX5FHTXV serves as an intermediary between its weaker cousin and the ultra-powerful GI models. For instance, although the GX5FHDXV maintains its cousin’s 24.8 cubic ft. frame, it supports many GI features such as a PuR® 6-Month Water Filtration system that reduces unwanted impurities from household water, an Adaptive Defrost System (ADS) that monitors the compressor run-time and the on-time of the evaporator heater, and no-slip blue door bin mats for keeping items stored in an upright position. In addition, the GX5FHDXV comes equipped with SpillGuard glass shelves that prevent spills from leaking onto shelves below, clear humidity-controlled crispers that help preserve the freshness of fruits and vegetables, a pull-out freezer drawer for easy and keep organization of frozen foods, adjustable gallon door bins that are easily customizable and movable, a temperature controlled full-width pantry that stores wide items like party platters and sheet cakes, and an upper slide-out freezer basket that makes it easy to spot and grab what you’re looking for. The GX5FHTXV also sports a hanging deli drawer, a can caddy, and a factory installed automatic ice maker. The Whirlpool GX5FHTXV retails for a relatively affordable $1749.00 (versus $2049.00/$2249.00 GI models) in white and comes with a 1 year limited warranty. Although expensive, do keep in mind that according to Whirlpool, the GX5FHDXV consumes less energy than a 75-watt light bulb.
