Whirlpool GX5FHDXV

$1,549.00 Released April, 2007

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Cleans easily, regardless of finish, and shelves easy to remove. Very quiet operation for a large-capacity model. Icemaker extremely easy to use, reliable.

The Cons:Shelving difficult to adjust without overly restricting room on some shelves. Icemaker very poorly designed. Drops ice down back of freezer even when bin not full.

The Whirlpool GX5FHDXV is a 24.8 cu. ft. (7.5 freezer, 17.3 refrigerator) capacity freezer-on-bottom Energy Star® Qualified refrigerator that features an AccuChill temperature management system that provides accurate temperature control with foam-in-place doors and double tub construction in both the refrigerator and the freezer compartments.

A major downgrade from the Whirlpool GI models, the GX5FHDXV features only a slightly smaller frame of 24.8 cubic ft. (versus 24.9), but lacks many of the luxurious features of its peers such as a PuR® 6-Month Water Filtration and an Adaptive Defrost System (ADS). However, the GX5FHDXV does still maintain a few useful stats such as a pull-out freezer drawer for quick and easy organization of frozen foods, adjustable gallon door bins that are easily customizable and movable, SpillGuard glass shelves that prevent spills from leaking onto shelves below, and a factory installed automatic ice maker. In addition, the GX5FHDXV comes equipped with clear humidity-controlled crispers that help preserve the freshness of fruits and vegetables, a hanging deli drawer, and an upper slide-out freezer basket . The Whirlpool GI5FVAXV retails for a much more affordable $1549.00 (versus $2049.00/$2249.00) in white and comes with a 1 year limited warranty. Although expensive, do keep in mind that according to Whirlpool, the GI5FVAXV consumes less energy than a 75-watt light bulb.

Anonymous: The drain plug in the freezer is plugged with ice. It seems to be a common issue with these. It just happened to mine. Jan 23, 13
