SweetPea3 MP3 Player
$70.00
Released December, 2007
The Pros:No headphones required. Stylish. Headphone jack is there if you need it.
The Cons:Locked up after four months. Mac OS/X not supported to fix it with, leaving us high and dry. OK, "high and dry" is a bit harsh. Their website helpfully suggests using VMware (and presumably a legal copy of Vista for purchased for X hundred dollars).
The SweetPea3 is an MP3 player designed for children ages 0 - 6. It plays music through a speaker so headphones are not required. It has 256MB of memory which will store 4 hours of music. The user interface is very simple with only three buttons.

The enclosure is overmolded in a soft rubber and has a very robust feel to it. The small size and the carrying handle make the player very portable. The sound is surprisingly good from a small speaker and there is a headphone jack. The player can be powered from an AC adapter for playing music or soothing sounds in a nursery. The SweetPea3 is very stylish and doesn't look like a toy. It does not use primary colors but instead uses softer tones which should appeal to more style conscious moms and tots. Overall, this is a very good execution of the MP3 player for children concept.
