The song is played by an 18-note chime that resides inside the ball giving it a kind of hollow and haunting sound. The ball can actually roll around and still produce the music, making it an especially interesting piece.
The Music Orb was designed by German designers, Jörg Adam and Dominik Harborth, who formed the design group, Adam und Harborth in 1998. They are committed to creating designs that take obvious things in our world, and making them stand out from a different perspective.
