The dolls are available in the US through a company called Kamibashi. The company is run by a husband and wife team and work through a supplier in Japan. They aim for fair trade practices, but according to their own labeling system it appears that the string dolls have not yet received fair trade status.

There are 112 different string dolls in total that make up the entire String Doll Gang lineup.

Erik: #kamibashi_string_dolls Ah, come on, ruthers. These little guys aren't so bad. They remind my of my favourite video game of all time: Voodoo Vince. Mar 20, 07

ruthers: #kamibashi_string_dolls I'm sorry but for some reason, these dolls scare me. When I was in Taiwan for Christmas, I saw a bunch of stalls that were making these & they titled them "Voodoo Dolls." That was just too creepy for me. They came complete in a set with pins and such and a little manual explaining the uses for the dolls! Mar 19, 07
