It was designed by the inventors of the Sonicare toothbrush, and uses the same sonic technology. The back-and-forth motion of the brushes ensure the skin is being worked with, rather than against by never actually scratching the skin surface and instead using a more massaging motion. The Clarisonic can be used with any non-abrasive cleanser, and is gentle enough to be used up to 2 times per day. It is recommended that brush heads are replaced every 3-4 months ($25 each).
