Bose Acoustimass 16

$1,299.00 Released January, 2005

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Easy to set up for most users. Comes with wires that are long enough for most room sizes. Satellites are attractive, look great in almost any room.

The Cons:Manual doesn't contain freq response, output power or impedance details, difficult to hook it up to an external amp. Uneven frequency response, with drop-offs in the highs, mid-lows and subs. Writing on the wires is very small, poor labeling all around.

The Bose Acoustimass 16 is Bose's top-of-the-line 6.1 channel home theater speaker system designed to produce quality sound that is powerful enough to fill large rooms.  The system comes with five Direct/Reflecting cube satellite speakers and one horizontal center-channel speaker that are all magnetically shielded and have a polymer finish with a cloth grille.

Each speaker has dual 2.5" wide-range drivers and are capable of handling up to 200 watts of power for high-fidelity sound.  The cube speakers are quite compact, at only 6.5" tall, making it possible to place them almost anywhere without them being noticed or they can be wall-mounted using the optional mounting kit.  The Acoustimass 16 system also comes with Bose's Acoustimass module which works with the satellite speakers to deliver a full range of sound.  The module has a scratch-resistant black satin finish and is approximately 16" tall with three 5.25" down-firing woofers to produce low frequencies with little distortion.  The Acoustimass 16 system comes with a full range of cables including a 20' system input cable and front/rear speaker cables for wiring the system as well as rubber feet for the Acoustimass module.  It is also Energy Star compliant and has built-in automatic protection circuitry to ensure long-lasting performance.  The home theater system is available in white, silver, or black finish and has a 5 year limited warranty.  The system differs from Bose's Acoustimass 10 since it includes an additional rear center surround speaker for a more realistic sound experience.
