20th Anniversary Optimus Prime
$70.00
Released November, 2006
The Pros:Extremely durable - snap-on part design removes risk of damage if the figure falls off a table or desk. "Battle Damage" aesthetic provides added realism over Japanese Takara version - Hasbro model also available at a lower price point. Movable joint hinges are intelligently concealed - disguised as "hydraulic" parts.
The Cons:May be difficult to transform at first - apprehension/fear of damage is common among first-time users. Some parts may become detached too easily - feet are notoriously loose. Base-mounted sound unit performs underwhelmingly - audio samples are unclear/distorted.
The Transformers movie is coming out in 2007, but you can get your fix now as Hasbro has a newer version of the most famous "Autobot": Optimus Prime. Hear his voice projected out of the built-in electronics in the display stand.
